| There
are three markup tools:
These Markup tools can be used in either
the ParagraphView or the TurboView. For each view there
are slightly different characteristics and use models. For
instance, in ParagraphView you can use your Notes as a way
to efficiently navigate through a document "skipping" only
to sections you've annotated ( see
Notes Viewer ). In the TurboView you can add Notes "on
the fly" without interrupting the flow of your reading.
One of the most powerful components of these
Markup tools is the ability to save your Notes or Highlites
as a separate text file for use in other documents or even
to RapidRead as personal "bullet points" for review.
Please Note:
In order to save your markup you must either "Save As"
a RapidReader (.r2d) file or Save Notes or Highlites as
a text file before closing the RapidReader document. |

Overview: Using Markup for Review
or to Navigate through a document |
|
|
When you first open
a document in RapidReader it defaults to the "ParagraphView".
(Please see ParagraphView:MenuBar or
ParagraphView: ToolBar
for complete use information)
In
addition to a familiar document-like format, the
ParagraphView is a "map" to navigate to the text
where you want to accelerate your reading. The ParagraphView
also shows where you've placed your personal User
Notes, Dog-Ear markers and it's where you can
access the Highlite text tool. |
|
|
Average Reading Speed on a computer drops to
just about 100 words per minute because we repeatedly
lose our place when scrolling. The fact
is, that our brains can process than we can read it,
using conventional means. |
|
|
NOTE:
When you are RapidReading in TurboView,
the ParagraphView is always available to you by simply
pressing the Space Bar, ESC, or Double-clicking
any where in the TurboView screen. This is the equivalent
of pressing the "STOP" button on a video player.
|

|
| The TurboView
in Pause |
|
|
| *TurboView Text
Field: |
| This is the viewing
area for accelerated reading. Here the text has
been Highlited. Please see: Topics
above. |
| *TurboView Markers:
|
| When these appear
they indicate you have placed a Dog-Ear or Note
at this location. If the icon is a Note then click
to view. Clicking the dog-ear icon does not result
in any change. |
| *TurboView Info:
|
| This displays the
speed you've selected, the current page number
and your progress through the document in percentage.
By default this info is set to "hide" while you
are RapidReading until you move the mouse. It
can also be set to stay in view as a selection
on the MenuBar under Options. |
| *TurboView Controls:
|
| These controls are
visible when in Pause. They can be used to navigate
backwards and forwards through a document, set
the speed, add User Notes, add Dog-Ear Markers,
Highlite text and Save the document as a RapidReader
(.r2d) file. |

| The User Notes
Viewer |
|
|
| The User Notes
Viewer is a directory of all the notes you've
made in a given document. The Viewer is a fast,
convenient way for global access not only to
your notes but also to the note location in
the document. With the Viewer you can:
• Create a new
User Note
• Open and read
any User Note
• Navigate to
the section of the document where you placed
the note
• Navigate through
a document skipping from note to note
• Save all your
notes as a single text file to use in other
applications. |
| !TIP: Great for Last Minute Review.
Once you've saved your notes as a text file
you can of course RapidRead that file as well.

The User Notes are given
an index number e.g. {N001} in the order
in which they are created, not
in the order in which they appear in the
document. So if you create a new note between
two existing notes it will be given a number
greater than the number of the last note
created. For instance, you could create
a new note and place it between existing
notes {N001} and {N002}. If you've already
created 5 notes, this new note will have
an index number of {N006}. So within the
